1. Coding and Decoding Notes

What is it?

Coding is a method to send secret messages. One word is changed into another using a rule. You have to find that rule.

• Rule 1 (Forward Shift): Moving letters forward (A → B).
• Rule 2 (Backward Shift): Moving letters backward (B → A).
• Rule 3 (Opposite Pairs): A is opposite to Z, B is opposite to Y. (Remember: AZad, BOy, CRuX, DeW).

Simple Example:

Question: If CAT is written as DBU, how is DOG written?

Solution:

C (+1) = D

A (+1) = B

T (+1) = U

Similarly, for DOG: D+1=E, O+1=P, G+1=H.

What is it?

Analogy means “similarity” or “relationship”. You are given two words that are related. You have to find the same relationship for the next word.

• Difference: The gap between numbers is same (2, 4, 6, 8…).
• Square: Numbers are squares (1, 4, 9, 16, 25…).
• Cube: Numbers are cubes (1, 8, 27, 64…).
