1. Research Grant for In-Service Faculty Members

Funding Utilization

The ₹10 Lakh grant is non-lapsable and can be used for:

  • Minor equipment and consumables.
  • Fieldwork and domestic travel.

2. Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members

Recognizing that academic excellence doesn't end with retirement, this fellowship allows veteran scholars to continue their research and provide mentorship to young PhD students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Status: Professors or Associate Professors who have either superannuated recently (within 6 months) or are about to retire.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 67 years at the time of application.
  • Publication Record: Candidates must demonstrate a strong scholarly record with a history of supervising PhD dissertations.

Benefits & Tenure

  • Monthly Fellowship: ₹50,000 (disbursed via DBT).
  • Annual Contingency: ₹50,000 per year for research-related expenses.
  • Duration: Valid for 3 years or until the awardee reaches 70 years of age, whichever is earlier.

The UGC has moved to a completely digital application process to ensure transparency and ease of access.
