SRINAGAR – If you are a student or a parent in Kashmir, there is an important update for you. All schools and colleges in the Kashmir Division will now remain closed until March 7, 2026.

Education Minister Sakina Itoo shared this news today. She said that this decision was made to keep everyone safe.

Why are the schools closed?

You might be wondering why the schools are shut. It is because of a big conflict happening far away in a country called Iran.

Recently, there were some very sad events in Iran involving its leaders. Because many people in Kashmir care deeply about what happens there, big protests and mourning started in many parts of the valley. To make sure students and teachers stay safe while these protests are happening, the government decided it would be best for everyone to stay at home for a few more days.

What about the Winter Break?

Most students were already at home for their winter holidays.

  • Small children (up to Class 8) were supposed to go back to school on March 2.
  • Big students (Class 9 to 12) had already started their classes on February 23.

Now, because of the situation, everyone—from small kids to college students—will have to wait until March 8 or further orders to go back to their classrooms.

Important Points to Remember:

  1. Safety First: The government is watching the situation very closely. They want to make sure the roads are safe before they ask you to come back to school.
  2. Exams: Many big exams that were supposed to happen this week have been moved to new dates. You should check with your school or university for the new schedule.
  3. Stay Calm: Leaders like Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have asked everyone to stay peaceful and not to listen to rumors.

When will schools reopen?

For now, the date is March 7. However, in some districts like Anantnag and Baramulla, things might get back to normal sooner if the situation stays quiet. In places like Srinagar and Budgam, the government will check again on Friday to see if it is safe to open.

Note to Students: This is a good time to stay at home, read your favorite books, and keep up with your studies until your teachers say it is time to return!
